Concretisation of the measure
If there is anything to be cooled during the event, this should be done in an already cool place if possible.
Preparation within the framework of the Kirchentag in Dortmund
No matter if it is a refrigerated container, a fridge or a refrigerating appliance: The Kirchentag drew the attention of its planners* to the fact that if there is something to be cooled, it should be placed in the shade. Although it can already be considered good planning practice, it sometimes helps to pay more attention to it.
During the implementation of the Kirchentag in Dortmund
There were comparatively few refrigerated containers, but they did have periods of shading where possible. Refrigerators were always used under cover and the air conditioning systems of the tents were set up close to the tent and thus partially shaded by it.
Environmental/climate protection aspect
Cooler ambient air leads to lower energy consumption.
Climate adaptation aspect
In order to protect the infrastructure and not to overload it, it makes sense to place the material according to this.
Cost/benefit/effort
The longer the event lasts and the sunnier and warmer it can get, the more important it is, to locate shady and cooler areas and use them.
In the early planning phase Technical infrastructure can for example be planned in the shadows.
Note
Covered parking decks, underground garages or even barns can be useful places for a temporary conversion as a technical or recreational area. Take this into account in the approval planning, if necessary.
