Concretisation of the measure
The Kirchentag held workshops to introduce other people and interest groups to the topic of climate adaptation. This enabled people to prepare for the Kirchentag and also to consider in which other areas of life climate adaptation may be necessary.
Preparation within the framework of the Kirchentag in Dortmund
In general, there are workshops with numerous contributors and support groups on a wide range of organisational topics. In the context of these workshops, the Kirchentag also addressed the issue of climate adaptation. For example, the subject of climate adaptation was addressed in a very practical way in the training course for the quartermasters of community quarters. This involved taking into account the solar radiation in the rooms. Slightly heated rooms should not be occupied in order to prevent sleep disturbances.
Implementation of the Kirchentag in Dortmund
The theme of climate adaptation was also included in the Kirchentag programme, so visitors could devote themselves to the topic. On the one hand, the prize-winning designs of the student competition were exhibited in a permanent exhibition. On the other hand, “Extreme weather – climate adaptation from the Kirchentag to communities” was also transferred to church communities, in a workshop with about 60 participants.
Environmental/climate protection aspect
Climate adaptation is very well suited thematically to also address the need for environmental and climate protection and thus to limit the rise in temperature.
Climate adaptation aspect
By informing and sensitising the large number of other interest groups and visitors, the topic can easily be transferred to other areas of life and thus the impact of climate adaptation measures can be extended beyond the actual effect at the event.
Cost/benefit/effort
The integration into existing training courses and workshops is possible with little effort. The organization of a separate workshop during the event is not higher, as for other topics.
