Concretisation of the measure
At large open-air events, it is helpful to have drinks available, especially during the lunch and afternoon hours. Mass dehydration can be countered immediately without the spectators having to move from their seats. Especially at popular concerts it can happen that spectators wait several hours for the performance and are reluctant to give up their stand or seat. Signs of dehydration can easily be overlooked.

The Kirchentag has stored its emergency drink reserves centrally. A delivery within 60min to the open air stages is possible at any time, as soon as requested by the event management.
During the implementation of the Kirchentag in Dortmund
In addition, PET returnable cups were kept on site for quick distribution of tap water.
Environmental/climate protection aspect
The Kirchentag procures drinking water only in the form of tap water or in returnable PET bottles. Through the central procurement of products, these can be purchased under the fairest possible conditions, also in terms of climate protection.
Climate adaptation aspect
Whether tap water or bottles should be used ultimately depends on the local conditions. In order to ensure the health of all, it is important to organize the fine distribution aswell. How does the water get into the hands of the consumer? Parking some boxes at a central point does not help.
Cost/benefit/effort
If a take-back agreement for closed bottles is concluded with the beverage dealer, a buffer for contingencies can be built up at low cost. If water of drinking water quality is available on site, additional tap water can be distributed. A distributor with numerous water taps enables a quick supply.
