Concretization of the idea
In the run-up to the Kirchentag, special attention was paid to groups particularly affected by weather changes in a workshop with the Kirchentag department, which is responsible for all of the participants’ concerns. This workshop gave rise to the idea, that a major event adapted to climate change may require, that local public transport must be supported in extreme weather situations, in particular to support vulnerable groups of people. As an example, a storm was discussed, in which a large number of people flock to subway stations. Questions came up like: What happens when the elevator stops working? How can the entry / exit be organized? What happens to aids such as strollers, wheelchairs, walkers, etc.?
Note
The consideration of all possible needs of the participants has a long tradition at the Kirchentag. In this sense, everyone who wants to come to the Kirchentag should be given the opportunity. The integrated ticket for using public transport at the Kirchentag is a standard. Kirchentag therefore pays great attention to whether and how local transport can be used by as many people as possible. As part of the KlAnG project, no answers have yet been found to the questions listed above. At this point, they are recorded and multiplied for documentation and as an idea.
