Concretisation of the measure
The measure can be applied in two ways: With regard to the urban area, it is important that the aisles planned for the supply of fresh air, which are kept clear, do not lose their function due to large temporary buildings, thus reducing the air quality in the urban area. On the other hand, the measure can also be implemented on a small scale for the event area or in relation to the interior of the temporary building.
Preparation within the framework of the Kirchentag in Dortmund
The outdoor location planning was already well advanced at the beginning of the project. A review of the plans showed, that no changes were necessary due to the measure presented here.
During the implementation of the Kirchentag in Dortmund
There were no indications, that the supply of fresh air in the city area was impaired by temporary buildings of the Kirchentag.
Environmental/climate protection aspect
This measure allows fresh and cool air to flow unhindered. No or less technical measures are necessary and the quality of the stay improves.
Climate adaptation aspect
Especially narrow and overheated places can be affected positivley by fresh air corridors.
Cost/benefit/effort
The planning process will be a bit more complex, but there are synergies to be considered, e. g. with the evacuation of the venue.
